How much heaver is the 351 than the 302?

most people that judge the 460 swap have never done it, it is no harder than swaping in a 351 i have both it's definatly cheaper to do the 460 swap ! the 460 with the common performance bolt ons is no boat anchor with the same parts in each motor 351-460 the 460 will tear the 351 up hands down ! but people that are weight conscious should not do it because a typical 460 swap adds alot of weight but they do make up for it with the torque ! its funny that every swap that i have seen and all my friends that have done it all run mid 11's to mid 10's on motor ! lets see a untouched stock head 351 with bolt ons do that through a c6 !

why the hell would u want a 351 to do that through a c6??????:nonono: i see what your saying but, nobody would do that, unless they like 90hp sucking trans or they got tired of snapping c4s

on a average the c6 robbs about 60-70 hp, i'm just saying that 460's run good even throuh the tough stock power robbing c6 ! i'm just trying to say that for the money you can't build a 351 to run with or handle the durability of the 460-c6 combo ! nuff said yes its heavy yes it's a boat anchor in stock form !

Hey modular 2v i'm not sure about the 331 351w comparison you made. We run pretty close to the same times. You i'm sure have more suspension work done then me. I'm sure your ported 69 windsor heads flowed the same and my out of the box holley heads the ones i had on my car when it ran 11.5. I also was missing that day and i have those deep dish pistons with a 8.2 to 1 compression ratio. So if i were to hazard a bet i think if i had the compression you do and was not missing i think i could laydown the same torque numbers.

no debate there......i was mostly just trying to get across the point that he does not need a 351 based motor to run fast. Hell there are 306s going 9s all motor (LOTS OF MONEY OF COURSE) I need to have the c9 heads flowed b4 i sell them just for the heck of it. I put the roll cage in last weekend dan and the tw heads get bolted on next week. Then i get to wait till march to see what the car can do :bang:

I hear you gopher, i guess we will just have to see how my 466-c6 swap goes, i'm looking for mid 11's @ around 115-118 on the stock heads ! thats the average for this combo over @ 460ford.com ! i would rather know that my tranny is going to last through all the torture , than have to worry everytime i go to race that the tranny might grenade, i might have went with a c4 if i had a couple laying around a bigblock bell housing and the money to build one !

i have a buddy with the same trans but with a little higher stall behind his 545 stroker and it moves pretty good but not has good if it had a c4 behind it

a c4, even built ones, won't stand up for very long to a big block, it was meant for small block vehicles with small block torque. thats why racers use glides and TH400s . Even a few monster trucks use somewhat stock C6s. They are ford's best HD tranny but i agree a C4 would be alot better. They make tailshafts with an overdrive gear for C6 so you can have overdrive in every gear, essentially turning the C6 3-speed into a C6 6-speed, pretty ingenious, but pricey.
