How much HP is an Electric Fan worth?

I put on a Ford Taurus electric fan, everything for 100 bucks. I could notice a small gain up top and it did rev a bit quicker. I also like the whining it made, that probably wasn't suppose to be happening, but I took it off because it was killing my charging system. I would get some subframe connectors.

Some one needs to make a list on the order of modify your stang... in a logical order, like pretend you have a brand new factory stang and go from there. Like would you start with suspension, engine, rearend, tranny....etc. Micheal and HISSIN... DO IT!

I hate to sound like an idiot but what exactly do sub-frames do? I know there good for unibody designs, but how does it really help out on the street and the strip???

They tie the factory unibody together. In order to get power from your engine and get it to the ground it needs to be transfered. Welding subframe connectors to your car will stiffen up the body therefore transfering more power to your rear tires.

Or just run a switch to the white wire on your alternator and shut it off completly.

thanks 89sleeper, also are bolt on Subframes a waste?? I have no welder, and i dont like people touching my car, i like the thrill of doing it myself, but are boltons a waste??

They are not a waste but weld in ones are much better.

I just bought some cross brace ones that bolted up to the seat bolts on the floorpan. Then went to my muffler shop and they welded them on for me for $20.

is this a question? BTW, i dont deserve to be lumped into any sentence with El Guru, aka Michael.

if you were asking, what i would do (note that i am very eccentric): bump timing, remove silencer, do all the little 'freebies' like that. i like to have an overdone suspension and brakes compared to the power i make (comes from the old days when i cut my teeth on Italian and German cars that were svelte and not necessarily powerful - one could really keep up with the more powerful cars cuz they did not have to scrub as much speed in twisties [and the brakes were great]). so i would follow the motto of Jrichker - the part about building a good foundation before building the house (crudely paraphrased).

brakes and suspension come first. included is chassis stiffening, like SFC's (IMHO, bolt-ons suck compared to weld-in, BTW. often the bolt holes rheam out). strut bracing front and back and all that are great. as are quality shocks/struts (Bilstein are always top notch, IMHO). then go with the power adders and driveline upgrades of choice - that is much more individualized.

that is how i would do it though. i really hope you were asking - if not, just pass this post right up. LOL.

Hey, lets not get carried away. How else am i supposed to power my electric back massager and heat pad when i race down the 1/4 mile!

That's just it though. It's different for everyone.

Some guys are big into drag racing, so they could care less about turning or braking or 5-lug conversions.

Me on the other hand would probably slap a Cobra 4-wheel disk 5-lug conversion on a 100% stock Mustang as my starting point....then yank out the Silencer.

WHat i'm getting at here is there is no 1 logical series of steps to take when modding. I mean we have the basics everyone does, but the next steps all depends on what you want to do with the car. If you want to drag race, your next course of action is to build up a drivetrain that can put power to the wheels. As your power increases, you build the suspension to put it to the ground.

Or someone like me will concentrate on handling and braking and yet not touch the motor aside from bolt-ons. Maybe someone wants to work on exterior and interior mods.

The world is your oyster. If i were to write a list, we would all be driving the same Mustangs basically....and they would all be like mine!

In a way they are a waste because they dont really get the job done. The body is FLEXING at the midpoint where the subframe connectors are. So if they are bolted on, then the bolt holes will become elongated and oval shaped. Once that happens you lose the benefit of them.

do you mean that they bolt in at the seat mounts or just bolt in SFC's that are welded in? i would just get weld in connectors with the seat cross brace (that bolts in usually). just my thinking.
