my goal is to have about 350hp n/a and that is a reliable enough to take me back in for to school and to work and all that. are these parts capable of doing that(with the help of other bolt ons of course)

rwhp no. you need a stroker or something else to get you in that range with GT-40 parts. Twisted Wedge stuff will get you 300rwhp

Based on what I've seen over a while now ..............

Here is a wide range for ya

245rwhp for a low
275rwhp for a high

Some have gone higher ... they are the exception
and
to get the exceptional higher numbers ..............

you are gonna have to cam it

If you are gonna step up from the GT40 category ........

There is no need to go over board with the 185's.

The 165's would do what you wanna do
besides
The 185's larger valves don't play nice with oem pistons.

Well, if you are talking beyond the GT40 stuff ....................

TFS and Edel would be fine.

Actually you could use an oem Cobra but you would need to have it ported for it to flow with the aftermarket intakes.

is the 86-93 the intake that your talking about? and is the afr 165 the best heads for the price that i can get or is there others that would more bang for the buck power.

AFRs offer more room to play with later (if you wanted to stroke it sometime, or add Forced Induction for example). The 165s flow very well for the 302 and will bolt up without having to touch the bottom end (see piston notching).

Best bang for the buck would probably be the trickflows...if I recall they are the least expensive of the aluminum heads. If I was going aluminum I'd go straight to an AFR/Canfield head...

however, and this is something to consider

an aggressively worked GT40/GT40P head with a ported GT40 intake/edelbrock perfomer and the 'right' cam will make around 300rwhp

and if you can get the head work done at a good rate, you will come out cheaper than an aluminum combo

About the cheaper price of TFS.

Always remember ... you have no option with rocker choice.

What may seem like less may not be all that much less ......
unless one already has stud mount rockers.

At least for me ... that is of no concern
because
I would rather have stud mount over pedestal.

To others ... it might be
never the less
The fact needs to be considered if one is gonna do a fair comparison.

I only bring up the price thing because making good power with both TFS & AFR is something that is done every day.
