Is 400$ shipped to much for a set of good condition gt40 heads?

Also what kind of HP can you expect over the stock heads? I believe I have a f150 302 in mine (I think anyways) so I may not even have E7 heads. Maybe worse.

The block is a roller block but I have no idea what heads since ford doesn't put casting numbers on the top.

But if I have the same heads as the much what kind of HP could I expect from the explorer heads. I called junkyards and there is nothing in my area but I did find some only for 400$ shipped.

You MAY still need ..............

Valve Job
and
Springs

OEM springs can loose their effectiveness with high miles
and
a cam can all the more quickly cause that to happen

IMHO ... An important thing to watch out for with oem iron heads

Don't put too much money in em
or
You won't be able to get it back
if
You later decide to upgrade those heads

I found a used set on here for 250, but then had to take them in for another 250 worth of work.. for another $500 I could have bought afr's

My point exactly :D

Then you consider this ...........
you gotta tear it all down for a second time to put the others on

Thats a lotta work  and to do it ... TWICE :bang:

And you should look at this as well :)

You got the second time expense of
head gaskets
intake gaskets
header gaskets
oil
oil filter
and other misc stuff

For some ... depending upon their desires or goals

Be Patient, Disciplined, and keep on saving

Just skip the oem head
and
put all that money toward the after market head
and
only do it ..... ONCE :nice:

I did it TWICE :bang: :rlaugh:

Our hobby causes one to make a lot of decisions ... don't it :rlaugh:

I think I'll just wait. If I can't find any locally I may just buy a set of new and better heads in the future. I'll just go ahead and get an intake for now.

Intakes are much more easy to r&r than heads :nice:

An intake will give you a nice gain while waiting for the heads

Just select an intake that will go nicely with your head choice ;)
