How much lift is too much?

Im looking at some cams for my 97 GT.
Does anybody know the max lift you can go with stock NPI heads?

Im debating between the comp 268H or the crower stage II.
Comp 268H
In. 230, ex. 236
lift .500/.500

Crower 62811-2 Stage 2
in. 220, ex. 224
lift .532/.532

Crower 62812-2 S/C Stage 2 ( but looks like a good n/a cam also)
in. 230, ex. 230
lift .532/.532

I know the comp-cams lift will work in a NPI, but how about the .532 lift on the Crower cams?
I know alot of people run the stock PI cams with no problems.

Second question is how much power should I expect with comp or crower cams?

BTW I am planning on a s/c down the road, leaning more towards a roots.

Would be the best cam of the ones you mentioned.

.545 is the max lift on a NPI head with Crower Offset Retainers.

You don't need the offset retainers for those.

wonder what the limit is on a PI is. i wanted to run 234/238 w/ .550/.550. its a Crane Cams CCA-102600

you need to run better springs, right? what other prep is needed on a 550 lift??

On a PI head, the only thing I would recommend is upgraded springs to run .550 lift cams.
