Hey guys

I'm stationed overseas in Germany.(so it's hard to get blocks over here)

I have the opportunity to get a Teksid short block out of a 99 cobra.
Internals are stock.

From what I've heard, the block itself is strong.
My question..can the rods/crank handle more than than the ones in an 01 GT?
Or are they possibly the same?(I'm pretty sure the cobra crank is forged)

Is the swap worth it?

Thanks
Patrick

I'll have another moderator move it to 4.6 Tech. It'll get more visibility there, versus SVT Tech. I don't have moderation privileges in this forum.

the block and crank will handle just about anything you will throw at it.the rods are still the powdered metal ones and I would not go over 450rwhp.

i don't think '99's have the Teksid blocks. I think it's 96-98 Cobra and 93-98 Mark 8 only that got them.

supposedly 96-01 cobras.

So if I pick up some manley rods(with good bearings) from mmr and swap the stockers out, the short-block should handle quite a bit of power?

I am pretty sure the 99's have a teskid, the 01's have a wap. I would also add set of forged pistons, the stockers will handle plenty of power, but won't handle detonation

Fords contract with Teksid ran out in 1998,1999 cobras and even a few 2001 got it. so you are mistaken

Sorry you are wrong.
You need rods and pistons and I don't think you are going to make enough hp to hurt the block.
You can all the stuff from modularperformance.com
