How Much Nitrous Can i run

I have a 1982 5.0 bored out, forged pistons, windage tray, chromoly rings, clevite bearings, lunati voodoo cam, stock heads, and i will be getting an edelbrock performer intake, and holley 650 carb. what would be the largest and safest shot that i could run and do you guys have suggestions on what kits to go with? thanks.

Dual plane intakes have an issue with air volocity i believe. I have been told that with a dual plane intake it is not a good idea to run over a 150hp shot.

go with a wet kit and jet it to a 100hp shot. the edelbrock kits and solinoids are very nice. High quality from what I have seen.

I have a dual plane intake and I run a 150 shot. I have been told thats pretty much the max for a dual plane. If you want to run more juice then that yes you should be looking at a single plane intake. Now if you get a single plane itake remember that you are going to lose bottom end torque. A vic jr for instance starts making power at 3500rpm.

Most of it will depend on ignition and making sure you have enough fuel VOLUME. Otherwise if all that is taken care of 150 should be fine.

You also have to make sure that your ring gap is big enough to handle a big shot.....the more nos the more heat, the more heat the more the ring expands.....to much and the ring ends will touch =no good

Not to steal your thread or anything but I was wondering the same thing. I have a 89 LX with a stock 302 block pistons and crank. It is fuel injected with 24# injectors edelbrock performer 5.0 intake and F cam. I was given a Zex dry kit for this car that has a 75 100 and 125 shot. I was kinda curious how much I would be safe to spray. Ecspecially since my heads have really been milled on a lot as well as my deck height. Anotherwards my clearances are very close.

persoanlly on a dry shot I would go more then 100hp.

Yah I'm sure it will go over 150hp shot with the right tune and supporting mods. But you are getting into the limits of the factory block hpwise. Your flirting with making the kinda power that will crack your block.
