My engine is a rebuilt 302 with a Vortech, the only oil I added was about 1/2 a quart in the lifter valley to lube the lifters. How many quarts should I put in? I was thinking 6.5 or 7 quarts? What oil weight should I use to break in the engine? 5 or 10w 30?

what is the capacity of your oil pan? if it holds four qts, then you put 4qts in, plus one for the filter if you changed that. the fact that you have a vortech blower on the motor doesnt change the oil pan capacity.

as for breaking in the engine, i prefer a straight 30wt oil, and when i change the break in oil i go to a 10w-30.

5 quarts for the oil pan.

Maybe 1/4 quart for the large size filter.

Another half-ish (little less) quart for your blower and oil lines.

You really should consider a 7 quart pan since you're running that blower.
