Ok, so I think Ive decided to find a KB. Ill probably go with the 1.5 unless funds allow me to go bigger. It would be on the stock block with GT40P heads w/ 1.7 RR's and ported GT40 intake, I could port the heads too.

And what would be a good cam for that setup?

if at all possible I'd up the size of the KB....I know the price thing's an issue....but you won't regret it.

as far as cams...custom ground is the way to go

I don't want this to come off like a smart azz reply
but
When talking about KB's ... its kinda more about torque than power (hp)

They typically do not put up the kind of rwhp values like centri blowers

Many peeps take a ride in one and are shocked when they hear the
amount of rwhp is less than 400

I really like the KB's myself

Then again ... I don't get all hung up on peak values

If you use Don 95Vert in a search ... you'll find a wealth of reliable data

Better than this watered down, general, milk toast stuff I gave :Word:

So how much TOURQE would I put down?

with a bit of work done to those heads and the cam.....

be looking for 400+ at 3000 rpm or sooner

you may not even need work done to the heads if you get a good ground cam

At one time ... I looked really hard into a KB before I did my current
NA combo ... so ... naturally ... I did a good bit of research

The general thinking seemed to be .......
If you were gonna stay stock
or
No more than a gt40 setup .........
The smaller unit would be more efficient

If going with all after market stuff which moves more air ..............
The smaller unit will run outta breath

Just a rule of thumb but I saw it said on more than one occasion by
those in the know on KB's

I just remembered
Go to Paul Riva's site and look at his cousins KB dyno results

Good point Grady, if you're staying stockish, I'd get the smaller.

You talk about getting a cam, you have a ported gt-40....if you could get those heads opened up a bit, I think the bigger blower would do you just fine.

but....I have no personal experience with KBs so what I say can be considered moot

whatever you do, get a ported lower from tmoss. i think he can set you up with either a gt40 or a stock one (ported of course). after you find the blower, you can get the ported lower that matches the discharge the blower has. you'll make enough power to need a bigger maf and 42# injectors, and you'll beat most people on the street (except maybe us 351 stroker guys) stoplight to stoplight, if you can get enough traction.

not being able to get enough traction is a good problem to have

just make sure the inlet and discharge are properly sealed. a kb with an improperly sealed inlet is probably what killed my motor (blown ring).

I figured Id need to get 42#ers. Didnt think 30s would be enough.

First Ill get a twEECer and a wideband, and learn on the stock engine while Im looking for a KB, then get that and the injectors, fuel pump(s) etc. Will I need an inline fuel pump if I get a 225?

17x10.5

I had to do a little inner fender beating. But it took like 20 seconds on each side once the wheel was off. Not much. I COULD have flipped my quads, but they only rubbed occasionally. And now I have some 1/4 in spacers so they dont come nearly as close.
