hello,
we got my buddies fox race car into the low 13s on a 150 hp dry shot. Motor is stock with what I think is cast rebuilder pistons, trick flow stage 2 cam, and 30# injectors and cobra intake. he also has decent gears and slicks. what kind of jetting can we step it up for more time

P.S. don't reply flaming me or the car. I know the motor is on borrowed time with that much squeeze (this is the third motor in the car BTW) but we just need one glory pass

BTW with his current setup, he goes through the traps at 6100 in 3rd, so i take it with the spray he will have to be in 4th to go through the traps. there are upgraded springs on the E7s for that rpm, however. any ideas to keep the pistons from flying apart?

good luck with the spray lol....my thoughts were unless he has a pretty good built AOD in there then say goodby to the trans...especially if he plans on using OD like you say. What size tires are on the car? 28''?

Check the sig for times and mods. And that was with a stock converter on DRs. I have a 3k "non lockup" and am going to bump it up to a 150 shot in the not too distant future.

I have sprayed 250 on a stock car and went 11.70's and motor was fine
but that doesn't mean i could do it all the time and get away with it
being "SAFE" is up to the tune and horsepower levels my 250 was tuned and lived ,I also got greedy on a 150 shot and didn't pull enough timing out and fried the motor so safe is in the tune not the shot

Not sure I would mix a dry shot and wet shot but thats just my .02

No,jetting it too fat will kill it as fast as going extremly lean. You get alot fuel pass the rings, and when it ignites it lifts the rings and ruins the piston. You also got a higher chance of a missfire if its very rich, witch causes a backfire normaly.

Put some unleaded 100 race fuel in there or if you can get a gallon or two of Toluene (assuming half or more tank full of gas).

I think it shouldn't take 2 much more hp to get into the 11's. BTW what is your 60' time? Perhaps you can find a little more traction and get yourself in the 11's without more juice.

I got a 1.605 sixty foot with nitrous launch on basically a stock suspension. I have installed lakewood uppers and lowers and i have KYB struts and shocks. Nothing fancey there. I still have quad shocks. I had the front sway bar still attached. I also have completely wrong springs. I have the Ford Motorsport 650lb jobbies. Wrong for drag-racing. With a few suspension mods I'm sure I could get into the 1.5 range maybe even better. I think you guys could aswell.

the reason I suggest going after more 60 foot time is because as you probably know 1 tenth is about 1.5-2 tenths in the 1/4 mile. So you can pick up a lot of ET by focusing on the launch.

Just be careful you don't run too much and blow the welds on the intake

we footbrake the car and leave at 2500 rpm on the converter, nitrous hits at WOT. the lincoln has air suspension, so weight transfers really easily. you can see the launches in my vids on youtube, like my other new post:
http://youtube.com/user/MrMustangMan357

anything we can improve? we will be heading to the track next weekend for the last time this year shooting for 12s so any help is appreciated. someone told me to put some toluene in the fuel tank for the spray? can others recommend it and where do I get it? any other tips on the launch. I want to be the guy that built and tuned an 12 second car with stock E7 heads. Next stop for next year, I am building him another 5.0L with the same trick flow cam, studded everything, AFR 185cc heads, and maybe a vortech s trim with methanol injection if he can afford it. I wanted to go turbo, but a 3.73 gear doesn't quite go hand in hand with turbo boost. he prolly wouldnt see boost until 3rd gear lol

When my car had a stock shortblock and E7s, it went 13.4 N/A. It went 11.8 on a 150 shot and 11.6 on a 175 shot. It was a full weight AOD LX hatch. I sprayed 250hp on the street and few times through the nozzle, but mainly kept it at 175 or 200 for street racing.

wow, that is quite a bit of reduction in ET. can you attribute that to anything? seeing as he sprayed 150 hp and dropped 1.3 seconds, and you dropped 1.6. were those back to back runs? anything special done?

I dropped 1.5 seconds on a 150 shot of spray. I think my car will go high 12's N/A but I couldn't get it to go that day. I had a passenger riding with me when I ran 11.5 and I was at 1700ft alt as well. I want a low 11 second time slip.

That was with an NX kit. NX rates at the wheels so I was probably making more power than another's "150" shot. On the 175 shot, I actually lifted about 200-300 feet before the finish line because I hit the rev limiter. It ran the exact same mph in the 1/4 although it gained 2.5mph in the 1/8th. It probably should have went low 11.50s on a 175 shot. On a chassis dyno, it gained 176rwhp on a 175 shot.

The car had over 140k on the shortblock, ported E7s with stock valves, Performer RPM intake, 75mm MAF, 70mm TB, BBK u/e shortys, stock clutch fan, a/c, power steering, stock airbox w/ K&N panel filter. It was full stock interior AOD car and weighed in around 3100lbs w/o me.

My friend's coupe has a stock longblock with Crower 15511 cam and Explorer intake. It's a light car with a T5. No a/c or power steering. It ran 12.9 N/A and 11.4 on a NX 100 shot. The car weighs under 2900lbs with him in it. Here it is on a 100 shot:
