How much to ask for 69 mach 1

It is really hard to judge your car without being there to actually look at it and see the condition it is in. That is probably what most of us are going to say. THe main thing is that it is an R code which means something but a better question is what is your ballpark figure to let it go for. Most of us have been in and out of our cars, know how much we have put into it, know all the problem spots and would loose a lot of money if we let our toys go. Granted you want to get the most out of it without being unfair and he probably wants to put out as little as possible. Just to show what a 69 R code can be worth, Barret Jackson sold one for about 100k. These big blocks are going up in value. Granted that example was rediculiously perfect in every way but they have a lot of potential. I would sway you from selling it if you have the time/money or are hard up for some cash but we really can't tell the actual value from not being there to poke at it. If it were my car I would start at 12 and see what the buyer says. Probably will go down.

honestly, i'd say that $12K is at the high end of the scale. more likely it would be between $8-10K considering what all is missing and what all is incorrect/wrong and that's without knowing the tru extent of the rust. tell him he'd probably be looking at somewhere between $8k on the low end and $12K on the high end, probably closer to the $8k in all honesty. especially right now with the housing market being how it is, the money that people were using to buy project cars has all but dried up right now and the car market is suffering big time for it. i know i'm getting ready to sell my 69 M-code GT coupe and the money just isn't out there right now, so i may be holding onto the car for longer than i was originally expecting. the same goes for him, he needs to decide what the least amount of money he'll take for the car is and hold out for that even if takes another 2 years to sell it.


i would suggest that he find the room to store the car inside until the it get's sold though. that will keep the car from deteriorating any further. it would also be a good idea to pull the carpet out of the car as well, so the floors can dry out and not have that wet carpet sitting on top of them anymore. keep the carpet if it's in decent shape as it would be nice to have for the future owner but only if it's not falling apart, otherwise trash it.

I was looking to buy a 69 for the last several years before I finally found my H-code for pretty cheap. I think bnickel's estimates are right on the money. $8K is what I would expect it to sell for, it could go as high as $11K to $12K if you had multiple bidders in an auction get a little punchy with "bidders lust". $8K is about right though.

If you advertised it for 8K I don't think you'd have any problem selling it. If I lived near there and the price was 8K I'd definately take a look.

I only mentioned 12 as a starting point. That definately would be on the high end and the buyer will probably offer 6-8 from there. As I said in my first post, I would be happy to get 8k for it also knowing that it will go to a good home.
