Just wondering, because someone on a local site said "I can get you an R302 block for 2900 bucks" Just wondering if he's semi retarded
bimmertech said:from what i understand the r302 still requires a great deal of machine work, as the dart block needs very little.
donkey_punch said:i was told by a local mustang shop, that the news ones don't need as much machine work as the old ones. he said a couple of customers had picked some up . what exaclty is different i don't know. but if it's true, you can't beat an Rblock for 1800 compared to like a Dart that starts at about 2400. and they both need machine work done before anything is done to them. so with an Rblock you about $400 or so ahead of the game.
if i had the budget an rblock would be the way i would go.

strokedandblown said:well you need to buy your dart from a machinest who buys them, the 2300 is a Summit price. Dont ask me exactly why there is more machineing, (im sure rick91GT would know) but when your done with an R302 You could have easially purchased the dart and done the same, and the dart is stronger.
I would say either dart or the new WORLD products block the R302 is just not priced right,
When your actually going to buy one call around, i got my dart for 1700 bucks and with machining i was around 2100. DOnt forget with dart you need the lifters that have that bar that connects the two and that was about 350$.
good luck
donkey_punch said:now you say you got your Dart block for 1700. which one?
cause i can't find a four bolt main bare Dart block for less than 2400 or so.
so please share in this great find, cause i'll get a loan out if i can get that block for 1700.
and i'm not here to start a big ass arguement. but i will like to see the proof that a Dart is stronger (as you said) than an R-block.
i'm not saying it's the other way around, but i was under the impression that they were at the same level.
strokedandblown said:I can guarantee you, that you will find the same deal cost is around 1600 for a dealer from DART, And we need Rick or an engine builder to chime in but when everyone buys blocks they DART or World. I sell printing equipment so i know everything thing about that, engine blocks i just go with what im told by the NMRA drag racers that live by me. I can find out if my engine builder will sell you one for that price, but you must have him machine it, and assemble the S/B its just how it works if you would like me to find out PM Me.
Rootus said:$1900 shipped for a DART. This, along with a pair of turbos, needs to be in my GT....
