How much would you pay for this?

I'm selling my 1994 V6, and am trying to come up with a fair asking price. Below is a link to the pics.

The pics tell the story based on looks. As far as everything else? Well, it has 102,998 miles, the top is about 15 months old, and does NOT leak. I couldn't even get it to leak with a power washer, and beleive me, I tried. Also, it has blown head gaskets. They blew out about a month ago, and the shop wanted 1300 to fix it. I decided that was a nice down payment on a new car instead. It also has an electrical issue, which I never resolved before the head gaskets blew. The number 1 fuse keeps blowing when the engine is hot. On that fuse is the turn signals, rear defroster, air bags, convertible top motor, back up lights, and transmission control switch.

Kbb value was $4600 for excelent condition when I checked it last month.

Now don't get me wrong here. I'm not attempting to sell my car in the forums. I'm just wondering what everyone here would be willing to pay, since people here are the ones familiar with this type of car.

I don't know what I'd pay for it, but the interior looks awesome! Just by glancing at the pics, if you had chrome wheels and some black GT/Cobra seats, you could clean up at car shows no problem. Oh and some bright blue Shelby stripes on the outside, that match what's on your door panels.. that'd be sweet..

Yeah I plan on doing that with my GT. But I'm not gonna do anything serious to it until I have it paid off. In the mean time I gotta unload this V6. I got a few calls so far, but only offers for a few hundred. I'm wondering if they're nuts, or am I. With the amount of work I put into this thing, I'm not letting it go for a few hundred. Damn head gaskets.

Well I appreciate the responces, so keep them coming. Tomorrow I will relist the car, but with no price this time. I wanna see if that'l generate more phone calls.

Just keep in mind that its not running, engine needs a rebuild, the electrical issue that could be something small or large resulting in a costly repair, a 10 year old top that will need replacing down the road, stock wheels and its a V6. But yes, it is pretty clean on the outside and in. A fixer upper V6 is a lot harder to sell than a fixer upper V8.

I'd probably offer you 1500 for it. IMO a pre 99 V6 can be picked up for pretty cheap and if I really wanted one I'd probably look for a better one around 3K. I'd try and fix the problems with it if you can do it yourself and sell it for what it's worth or just sell for a reasonable offer considering the problems just to get it off your hands. In the state it's in I would probably ask for half of what it's worth in good running condition and see what happens. The fact it's in great shape other than that helps you out. Most people like myself might want to get it to rebuild and make some money on a re-sale.

Well as we all know v6 mustangs have bad resale value. You car is very clean on the out side however Imo the buyer is gonna have to come up with a couple of thousand just to get it running and to pass smog. NO car that has been driven as a daily driver is in excelent codition. If you read excelent condition on kbb it says that only 5% of vehicles fall under that catogory. With that said don't expect much. At most Imo 1500. You figure someone pays you 1500 has to pay another 1300 and they still have a 14 year old car with 103k. I ve seen 94 95 gts in the 3500 range with about the same miles. Another thing you can do is donate the car. This is a good idea becuase 1. You'll get kbb value for the car. 2. you get to write it off on your taxes. 3. It will go to a person who really needs it.

I'm not sure how that donation works out. How do I get kbb, if I'm donating it? Meaning it will be a tax write off equal to kbb? Then, how much would I actually see on the back end when the tax refunds come?

Another question... Let's say I rebuilt the engine. How much could I be looking at getting for this, with AND without the electrical problem? I know people are scared of that kinda thing, and I know it could be a huge factor in the resale value.

Not really worth it to donate and write off on taxes...been there, done that.

And who the heck really needs a non-running Stang? "here you go son! your first car!" ....."oh by the way...it doesn't run yet...better get started on your paper route!":rlaugh:

You may find someone who likes the interior and body enough to take it on as a project car. If it were mine, I'd try ebay and autotrader. I have seen total POS's on ebay that are advertised as non-running project cars, and people do get into bidding wars over them. (Not saying yours is a POS, because it isn't!) However you sell it, if you are able to get over $1500 for it, grab that and run.

Well it's on ebay and autotrader now. I got a feeling this is gonna be ugly. I'm gonna look into donating too, cause if I can get a $4600 tax refund, NICE. If I go that way, I'm deffinatly going to a pic a part too and getting an interior. I'm thinking top dollar here, cause I could probly get at least $500 for the full set of interior panels and stuff. We'll see.

Oh no, you can write off the vehicle in your taxes - but it will not equal that same amount for a refund. You can more than likely expect anywhere from 10 to 15 percent back on your return depending on your tax bracket.

I saw your ebay ad, and let me say one more time that interior looks SWEET!! But I have a suggestion; get rid of that small last paragraph at the very end that talks about how hard it is to swap in an engine. Let's face it, if someone buys this it will likely be as a project car, you don't need to help talk them out of it by saying it's hard to swap an engine. Just my $.02. Same thing for the autotrader ad. Also if it won't cost you extra $$, I'd post more pictures, especially of the interior, in the autotrader ad. 99% of the people that see it will be too lazy to copy and paste the link in there to see your photo album.

Thanks for your info Red98. It didn't even cross my mind that putting that could be bad. Unfortunatly, I couldn't change it, because there's already bids on it. SO it's stuck where it is. As far as the link goes, it is a hyperlink, so hopefully people aren't THAT lazy. On autotrader though, yeah, they would have to cut and past. Autotrader want's more money to add more pics, so I left it alone. I'll end up spending more money trying to sell this thing than I'll get for it. I did change the description there though.

Thanks for the compliments RED98.

Well, it's at $960 on ebay, with one day left. I haven't gotten a single call from the auto trader add. I know I'm not getting $2500, but that was just a starting point to get talked down from. If I'm lucky, it will end at $1200 on ebay, and I'm sure the winning bidder will still attempt to talk me down.

Just out of curiosity... Lets say I decided to part it out instead. How much could I make off that interior alone? That includes the 2 rear panels with speaker covers as pictured, door panels with mach speakers and lock pins, center console, seat belt clips, kick panels, and dash with all vents bezels and chrome knobs and anything else. Basically the interior as shown in this pics, minus the seats and carpet. How much do you think I could get for just that?
