My throwout bearing is making a squealing noise when the clutch is completely disengaged (foot off pedal).

My question is, how soon should I replace the clutch? Right away, or is it okay to wait on it? Basically, will I be stranded in the very near future if it's not replaced now?

As far as replacing it, does anyone know a good place in So Cal to do the labor (I'll buy the king cobra clutch kit online)?

I've gotten $400 quotes on labor alone, hoping to find a less expensive, but still good place.

Naw, it'll annoy you to the point of wanting to kill someone or break the friggin thing to pieces before it'll do any damage. Seriously, don't worry about getting stranded.

I could ride with my foot just sitting on the pedal, and it would stop the noise. I got tired of doing that, so I got under my car and sprayed the bastard with some white lithium grease. It's no big deal that you should be hearing that; I was actually sitting in traffic the other day, and this guy in a sweet looking 99 was squealing like hell. I thought it was me, and when I put my foot on the pedal and it didn't go away, I shot him a look, and he nodded at me with a disgusted look on his face. Guess it's some kind of common problem.

400 bucks? thats a job u can do by urself.. well on a 5.0 is atleast i think its the same with the newer models took me about 8 hours first time

dont change the clutch out until u can be going up a slightly slopping hill in fifth gear and when u put a load on the car the clutch slips, then its time for a new one

Same noise here.
May be a stupid question, but does factory warranty cover that. I know that they probably consider it a normal wear part, but just curious.

It's unanimous, I'll hold off for now and use my money on a cold air induction kit instead.

you will be fine I had a buddy with a centerfoce in his 00 v6 and the throw out bearing went out cracked the disk in two and he still put another 1500 miles on it before getting it fixed,Dont woory about the stranded part

First, I would get a quadrant adjusting cable before replacing it to make sure I got every last drop out of it.
Then I would upgrade upon replacement.
