Hey,

I am looking at a 95 GT Convertible for my mom. I have always been a 5.0 lover but recently bought a 4.6L 02 GT. We had a 95 V6 before, but I saw this car and we are looking at buying it.

My question is...how reliable in stock form is the 94-95 5.0L engine?

we are looking at what appears to be in great shape 5.0 Vert with 100,000 miles.

I have never owned a 5.0 but would like to know how reliable the engine is? I will post a picture to show you how well its been taken care of.

The motor itself is extremely reliable and can last a long time as long as previous owners took decent care of it (changed oil, tune-ups etc.).

I'd pull that bra off to see if the paint has faded or been scratched underneath it. If she doesn't like the looks of the bra, she'd better know now if it's gonna need paint.

It all depends upon how well taken care of the car was. Does it have service records? Around 100K is when some things start to crap out so that is something to remember. Often times though, with people who have shops do the work, those items are replaced before 100K as preventative maintenance (they dont wait like we do for the stuff to break. ).

Doing a compression test on the motor is a good idea. Look at things like the mounting points for the rear controls arms (to see if they are cracking, which can be a sign of a car that was run kinda hard), etc. A mechanic can do a thorough once over for not much money. It can be a wise investment if you are not around to fix stuff for your mom.

Good luck.

Well it runs like a top, but unfortunately I will be building a new motor for it next month so i wont see it.

I also have a 86 Ford f150 5.0 with 180,000 runs great and an 84 Dodge D250 318 with 280,000 still runs good it is all in how you take care of your vehicles

mine has 130k on it, and the person before me didnt take care of it but it runs good still. When i got it it had 118k on it with the original plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter. after a tune up it got 5mpg better. so i would say they can take a beating and keep on running.
