I gotta ship two power seats from a 93 stang and I need to take the backs off to fit them in the boxes...but...on the outer side it has the little coiled spring thing and stuff..and i dont know how to take that apart...i got the bolt out of the other side but then what?
On my 91 seats there were two bolts that held the whole seat back recliner mechanism to the lower part of the seat. Take those two bolts out and since you've got the bolt out of the other side it will come off. The recliner mechanism stays attached to the upper seat.
I just looked at my old seats, 87 GT seats. You have to unzip the seat back fabric, remove the seat back latch cover plate, roll the seat covering up a bit and then remove the plastic plate on the seat back. Under there are two bolts that hold the spring loaded hinge to the seat back. Your should be similar, if not the same.
