how the mess do you remove the cowl grate?

i see the screws, but do you have to remove the passenger side wipe? i see a clip but i cant pry it off to remove the wiper

Yep take the wiper off.

Lift the wiper away from the window, then pull that clip out. Should slide out a bit and the wiper will lift off.

Just like tomcat said, pull the clip out as far as it will go. Then, I find it works beter to let go of the wiper arm. It will rest on the clip then pull at the base of it, and it will pop right off.

What he said!

The "clip" only pulls out about 1/4". When you let the wiper arm spring back (gently) against the clip, it will hold the clip out, making it easier to reinstall the wiper arm.

The first time you try it, it's tricky. After that it's really effing easy.
