I disconnected my sway bar a few weeks ago, just from the end links, but i want to take it off, cause its weight thats just sittin there, and my wheels hit it sometimes.

I heard when you turn the bolts the clips sould break but mine didnt im talking about the clips behind the bolts in the backet things. Theres 4 of them, i havent been able to break one, what tool can i squeeze in there to break them? or is there anywhere to get the damn thing off?

You should be able to just unscrew the bolts and remove the bar and brackets. The clips just hold nuts for the attaching hardware at least it was like this on my 90GT.

the clip should hold the nut in place so you can take the bolt out but some times it cracks and it no longer holds the nut. i used a screw driver to tear it apart. you can also try a screw driver and hit the end with a hammer

I am with wise-Don - why wouldnt you leave the plastic brackets in place, even if not running an anti-sway bar?

I was one of the folks who had to break my plastic retainers out - the nuts were spinning in place when renewing the anti-sway bar bushings.

Good luck.

ahhh the inside plastic clips on the front sway bar. You may be able to pry up on them and get a wrench on them then use a rachet to loosen the bolts. Seems to me I remember doing this years ago. I'll let you know tomorrow as i should be removing the front sway bar from my parts car.....I'll even post a few pictures!

The clips on the top that you can see under the hood? I had problems getting them off of the 87 Turbo Coupe I was parting out until I got out the air hammer and destroyed them bastages. Air hammer is the way to go!

one of mine was missing on the parts car, but the other one was stuborn and wouldnt come off, so I screwdrivered it and it broke off. Then I put an air impact on it and held a back up.........and off they came!
good luck
