To crank the engine without a key, remove the small red push on wire from the starter solenoid (or relay if you prefer) and jump it to the solenoid post that connects to the battery.
Be advised that this does not provide power to the ignition system, fuel pump or computer. It will not start the engine, only cause the starter to crank the engine.

Turning the ignition switch to the crank position puts battery voltage on the red push on wire for the starter solenoid. Absolutely yes. That's what I do when I am working under the hood and need to crank the car. Just be sure to remember the warning about having it in neutral or Park.wazazzle said:can't you just use a remote start button?
