Is this a task anybody can do? Lube Express wanted to charge me $35 to do it but I figured I could do it myself. I was supposed to do it at 15k miles and am now at 20k :bang:

How hard and what fluid should I swap it with?

it's pretty easy to do....if you want the best fluid get the Royal Purple Synchromax ( 7.95 a liter from 50resto).

there isa drain plug on the bottom to drain all the fluid...the easiest way to fill it back up is to take the shifter off and fill it up that way..or thats how I did it anyways. You will spend more time letting the tranny drain than anything else hahaha

That's ok. I'm at 94k and have never changed the tranny fluid. Getting ready to though. No problems with my T45 so far and I'm sticking with the stock Motorcraft Mercon in there.

Keep in mind that I didn't start modding my car until the last year, so I never really dogged it. If you dog it then changing it is more important, but you are fine at 50k. Go ahead and change it, though.

Hehe, depends on what you definition of "dogging it" is....

The only difference in filling the T-3650 and the T45 is the T45's fill plug is on the passenger side with the drain... That being said (to save you the whole 5 seconds of confusion :P) I changed mine recently and all I used was a small clear (Get clear... a lot easier :P) tube I bought from Lowes for about 2 bucks and a funnel around the house that fit it snugly (no leakage :P) Make sure the tube is flexible as it has to bend without crimping in a relatively small space, and all I did was take off the shifter, plug the other end of the tube into the fill hole, and then filled her up while sitting in my passenger seat until I heard dripping. It's pretty dern easy :P

Hope you find this helpful.

if your going to take off the shifter cant you just pour it down that hole?

Okay, I'm going to be swapping out my shifter in about 2 months, so what hole are we talking about here?? Anyone have pics to show this "hole" that I can just pour the trans fluid in??

Just take the shifter off, like.. the whole thing until you get down to tranny. Have to take off the knob, bezel, arm, cover plate, and shifter stub and you'll know when you've hit it :P

Would this be the hole to pour the fluid into?
