How to check MAF

Have a 93 2.3l standard trans. Someone told me to check the MAF all I had to do is crank the engine up and unplug the electrical plug. I did that and the car keeps running, no change. So I guess that is my problem? Or did I get bad info to start with? Any help.......Thanks

Could be or not - when you unplug the MAF - the computer will see no signal - and run in a default mode. It should throw a CEL at that point, but if your car already has issues the CEL will already be on.

Pull the codes from the computer to see what it thinks is wrong. What is the symptoms you are having now?
