how to delete rear bumper bolts?

hey i dont like those ugly bolt heads or whatever they are called that show out the bck of the bumper. they are hideous. i was wondering if they have deletes or do any of you know how to get rid of them? anyone ever tried this?

Stock bumpers don't have any visable bolt heads. Do you have glass bumpers on the car maybe?

Your rear bumper may have had the vertical bumperettes at one time.
I think that's what mine had cause the front ones are still there, but I have some fugly rusted bolt heads on the rear bumper of mine. I'm not sure if the bolts are actually holding the vinyl in place or not. Why not just remove them and see how the bumper cover looks, if it is not attaching he bumper cover then there are lots of different plastic caps that could be snapped into the holes and painted to match.

What the hell is that? That's definitely not OEM .

My guess is at some point, the metal bumper brace rotted out (as they commonly do) and somebody "home made" their own, and used those carriage bolts to attach the II skin to it.

Can you get us a picture of the inside of the bumper? That would answer the "wtf" question for many of us.

If the inner reinforcement is rotted out, I don't know what's holding the skin together...other than all of those carridge bolts. I fear that there is a wooden 2x4 behind that skin...

Its probably time for a new (old) rear bumper assembly or time to go with a fiberglass skin and custom brace and mount. The fiberglass "bumpers" on the market don't have the recess for the molding and don't have a mounting solution provided, which is how everyone knew your original urethane bumper skin was still in use.

They look to be just painted carriage bolts.

My guess on what's on the inside, is definitely some kind of wood .

Oh, and somebody mentioned the aftermarket bumpers. There is a manufacturer who makes a glass bumper with the recess for the plastic trim. I don't recall who off hand, but I remember it in past discussion here.
