Any suggestions on the best and easier way to detect if my car is missing without being able to listen to it?

Here's the situation.. I was driving down the highway a few weeks ago and my shiftlight did the little sequence it does when you start the car, which means that for some reason it's power source had an issue.. either it grounded out, reset, or lost power for a second. Well the shiftlight uses the same power source as the COP's. Which whenever we accidently poked some holes in a boot or two of these COP's when installing the cams it missed out like crazy because of this and the shiftlight was giong crazy. So it concerns me that maybe I have a miss. The thing though is.. it hasn't done it again or at least I haven't seen it. Is it possible that it was just a one time miss? and why would it do that if so? should I do a compression test just in case? And no the shiftlight isn't defective, it seems fine.
