Hey guys, I am in a pickle. :bang: I need some welding done on my exhaust, but no one will touch it because there are no cats on the system. :bs: How am I suppose to get this work done if I do not have a welder.

This is more annoying than I thought it was gonna be.:notnice:

The shop I work at will not take cat's off but if your car came in with a "exhaust leak/cat fell off" we would "fix" the leak.....as long as there is no cat when it comes in all we have to say is we didn't remove it.

Try to find a kinda bad area. People and buildings are dirty, maybe hickville. There is bound to be a beat up muffler man around there. Out here in hickville im good friends with this guy that runs his own muffler man just cause hes done lots of jobs for me and my dad, and friends. He could careless what setup you want to put together, you pay him and he'll do it. try to be friends with the guy who runs the small shop, bring him business or something and he'll help you out.

There's a gear near me at home that's will do anything. Midas got my car up on the lift, broke part of my cat back, and then said "oh, since when does this car not have cats?" and wouldnt even put it back together. after giving them a bunch of ****, they put it back together and then i took it to "our guy."

With the enviro-nazi's making laws where shops can be fined $10-20K+ for basic crap like that, they have good reason to be nervous. The enviro-nazi's actually send people out on stings to try to get shops to give them a reason to be fined.

Rent a truck/trailer, remove license plates, bring it in on the truck/trailer as a race car, tell them it is a race car for track use only, then they are off the hook. I heard a shop owner who said that is the only way to get around it.

My method. Find a good local shop. Do legit business with them for awhile. Pay in cash always. Then...depending on how the situation is them I'll come out and ask or I''ll just drop the car off and not say anything. Never had an issue. Most like keeping a customer who basically pays them under the table.

My car has several inspection violations that I have been working on. They pass it as long as they aren't safety related.
