i heard somewhere that i need to use a plumb bob on the k member install.
it is a bolt in k tubular k member but i don't know the brand. are there any tips on installing one. i am going to get it alligned and all that but do i need to square this k member up.

i think that there is a little play in where the bolts actually bolt up so youre best bet is to measure from a common place on the car to the bolt where it is now and than when you put the new k member in bolt it up to the same spot. i think thats how most people do it. but you could always just eye it up and take it to someone who can do a cradle alignment. i wouldnt recommend taking it to some high school kid who works part time at the tire place

ok so measure from an edge of the new k member and a stationary object, then measure from the opposite edge of the k member to the same object to get the same measurement. i doubt there will be any common surfaces on the stock k member.

well you dont have to measure from the k member. id recommend measuring from the center of the rear bolt on the k member to the front of the crossmember brackets for the tranny. write the numbers down and than when you put the new k member in measure it again and line up the rear bolts at the same distance. should get your pretty close. but than again, it might just unbolt and there might not really be any movement or adjustment in it at all. ive never done one but from what ive seen with a lot of front wheel drive cars and having to drop to subframe to pull trannies out there is a little adjustment to them
