As said above you will need an impact wrench to loosen the nuts on the top o f the strut - I went to a garage and they loosened them for me at no charge.
Then drove home. Put the car up on stands - at least the front of the car. Remove the front wheel, caliper and rotor and dust shield. Take a breaker bar and loosen the 2 bolts that hold the strut to the spindle - just loosen them.
Put a jack under the ball joint of the A arm and jack up the A arm until the car starts to lift off the jack stand. Now remove the nut on top of the strut. Then slowly lower the strut with the jack, until the tension is out. Make sure you haven't moved the jack stand. Now remove the 2 bolts that attach it to the spindle.
