I have to get my car inspected in March and I have a general question about how to pass my inspection. I drive a 96 GT and have Flowmaster O/R x-pipes and my check engine light is continuously on. Thanks guys.

Best bet is buy a used mid pipe with cats like a factory take off from ebay or these board and install it for the inspection. Should be a few bolts I guess, nothing major really. Then when you are done put yours back on. Just make sure to clear the code once you put stock pipes on so the check engine light goes away. And yes, mil eliminators would be a great idea on the o/r pipe once you put it back on. It's bad to always have the MIL light on bc you may think its only the o2 light when there could be other codes that have ben thrown as well and you don't find out.

Best bet, find a stock H from a junk yard, and get it put on. A Sct tuner is about $379....

I guess my inspectors were morons for the last 4 years in Virginia. You could just pull the bulb out of the cluster too. Alot easier then getting down on the ground for MILs. Then put it back after the inspections in case of a real problem.

The must have been real morons...Thats a huge fine if an emissions inspector (atleast in Va anyway) passes a car and the CEL doesnt illuminate when you turn the key on.

Plain and simple, if you put MIL's on and they dont look under the car, you'll pass with flying colors. Trick is they dont look under. Otherwise, put a catted pipe on and switch it afterwards.

I live in Charlotte right now because I go to school here, but I'll most likely go home and get it inspected in Fayetteville. How'd you manage to pass?
