Ok folks, thinking ahead of things I want to do and want help in doing it right without ruining the paint.

I have had problems for years with my passenger side door window coming out of its channel, and have re-glued it with various glues. The one that seems to be working so far is an Elmer's equivalent to Gorrila Glue. It works I believe is because it expands, and hence grips the window. Knock on wood no problems.

But here is the question How does one remove either window when the glue is holding the window? There is no way that the mounting brackets are going to slip through the narrow sliver at the top. How is it done?

FYI, there is a guy on ebay that is selling brand new Clear, Grey and Green Tinted replacement 1970 BOLT-in window glass.

Once I do have the windows out, does somebody know where they sell reproduction brackets , 1970 style that is?

Thanks

Chris

"...it will fall out on its own"

LOL - no doubt eventually it will, always had. I'll probably buy the parts needed , store them and wait until the day it falls out again. Was just wondering if there was a way to hurry the process along.

Are the earlier models done the same way? were other muscle cars done the same way, ie Camaros, GTOs , etc?

what a silly engineering fubar.

You can get the glass out with the brackets on, but it isn't easy. There is a slot at the top where it will fit out, and you pretty much have to stand the glass on end and use the same slot for the other side. When you start fiddling with it, you will see what I mean.

Replacement brackets are available as a kit from National Parts Depot. The kit only includes the metal brackets and the rubber glass protectors. You will have to order plastic washers and bolts seperately. Get their catalog before ordering so you can see pics of all the stuff, and order well before you take it apart so you can see what ypu might be missing.

This job is no picnic. After getting the window on, getting the back channel on can be a real bugger. Have three hands and elbows.

That is a good price on the glass. make sure if you have a fastback that you get fastback glass, and vice versa.
