How to remove remote mirror on a '65

Taking my car in fo paint job on friday, and I am stripping it right now.
I cannot figure how to split the cables from the mirror or knob in order to get the cables out.

Anyone done this?

you shouldnt need to split the cables form the mirror to get the mirror off the car... the knob and everything should slip out through the door.... If you mean to paint the mirror, I probably wouldnt remove the cables, but just wrap them in a paper bag and tape

On a '65 with factory remote mirror, you remove the cables at the knob end. Simply pull the cable housing back away from the knob. Do this for all three cables. If your knob assemby is not marked for the different color cables, mark them before you remove the cables, it is important they go back in the same position.
