How to roll fenders?

Hey guys..

How do you roll fenders? And hoe does it look after does it show from the outside of the car or wil it only effect the under of the fender. Thanks

Use a baseball bat, stick it between the fenders and the tire, roll the car back and forth so that the bat goes between the top of the tire and the fender. Worked on my buddies 90gt pretty well that way.

I'm just going to use a drimel and cut the lip about every two inch's and then use a mallot to tap them up.

Okay. forget what I said about using a drimel & mallot. I just did one side. I had to use my 3" disk cutter and a body steel hammer. Turned out real nice. I cut about 1 1/2-2" and then hammered it in.

Mine turned out with slight dimples. Lil bondo will clean up before paint.

I dont think a baseball bat will fit between the tire and the fender! Should I jack it up stick the bat and bring the car down?

If there is that little room, I would be leary of doing it with the bat. You could also try and use a small maul and try tapping the inner edge slowly and carefully all the way around. I did this on mine and have not had any problems. It depends on how much room you need though. I am running 275/40/17's in the rear and needed a little bit of room. In fact I need to go back and tap them some more, just afraid of waiving the fender lip since my car has a decent paint jod on it.

Oh yeah forgot to add, make sure you use a cloth or something between the fender and the paint so you do not chip it.

did mine with a bat and some patience. turned out pretty good. but make sure you heat the paint a little to soften it. I cracked mine.

what is being rolled exactly? I cant picture it! is it the inner fender..if so how could I crack the paint. Or is it the outer fender were its thin? any pics pleasssseeee!? Thanks

"Rolling the fender" refers to rolling the fender lip located above the rear tire. People do it to clear for larger than stock tire sizes. The easiest way to do it is to use the baseball bat method. That is to place the large end of the bat between the top of the tire and the fender lip and use downward pressure (and the assistance of someone to push the car ahead if you've got it) to fold the edge of the fender lip upward into the inner fender, staying with the original contour as much as possible. The problem with doing this with cold paint is that more often than not, the paint won't flex enough to accommodate the new shape when it's cold and tends to crack in the process. By warming the paint up with a heat gun, it becomes more pliable and reduces the chances of it cracking.
