how to run the fuel pump without running the car.

well here it goes, the other day my wife took the car can some how managed to do a few 360's off of a 7 foot colvert into a deep flooding creek. it landed ass end in the water. it busted the oil pan which i fixed and also on of the exhaust pipes is badly damaged. the body is ok except for some gashes in the bumper. the trunk and the back seat looked like a lake. i drain as much of the fuel tank with a little fuel pump and some hoses and put some super gas in it along with 2 cans of b12 and one can of seafoam. it finally cranked but has some water in the system. i want to get the fuel pump to suck out everything without running the engine to save me from dropping the fuel tank. what can i do and how do i do this. it is a 95

Bridge the connection at the relay.

alright that is what i thought but would the fuel pump suck everything out to the last drop, if the pickup did not go all the way to the bottom i couldn't get all of the water/fuel out, right

you'll most likely have to suck as much out as you can then add gas to disperse whatever is remaining and suck it out...And that should get majority of it out...

you could also take the schrader valve off of the fuel rail........the system will continue to run, attempting to pressurize the system to the required pressure. The only problem is finding something to screw into the valve to drain the gas somewhere other than onto your engine.

just disconnect the fuel line underneth and take the shrader valve off then it will just flow onto the ground

i dump my used oil into my local streams and ponds also...













i guess i had to add to also put a catch bucket or something down also, under punishment of death by tree-huggers

ok yall, i took the valve core out of the shrader valve and it still stops priming after about 3 seconds. you know where the electric fan it and where that box with the big electric connecter that is bolted to the coolant catch can is? well that clicks when the key is turned so that is the fuel relay but which wires power the pump so i can cross them. i know that if that connector is unplugged, the car will not start but only turn over. so what next.

you could always punch a hole in the tank and get it plugged....

no i may pass on that, maybe. a fuel tank is never complete without a drainplug though. i could put a plug on the lowest part and use quicksteel to seal it back. that is probably a no go idea though

You should just take out the fuel tank!! Its the only way you are going to get all the water out. It only took me about 45 mins to drop the tank, replace the fuel pump and reinstall! Just make sure you have less than a 1/4 tank, or it will be a bitch to handle!
