how to trim a gasket??

hey i got my thumpers yesterday and i have the plain old felpro gaskets, they need to be opened up a tad bit, especially the exhaust side.

just take a die grinder and knock it off??

i would also say get a good sharp razor blade. they have nice pencil type razor blades so you have good control of the cutting.

Ball end of a small ball pein hammer. I have made many a gasket this way. It works very good on cast iron, but I would avoid using it on aluminum castings. You put the gasket in place and tap lightly around the perimeter with the ball. Make several passes and the excess gasket material is cut away by the ball forcing it against the sharp edges of the casting.
