Hello all,

I am just finishing up a 91->85 bodypanel swap and am in the final phases of wiring the headlights. Now if I remember correctly, the outer lights are the low beams and the inner light is the high beam but if I also remember correctly, all 4 lights come one with the high beams on.

Can the 91 flipswitch handle this kind of current?

Why do the highbeam connectors have 2 green wires each? I am assuming the red wire on the lows is the low beam power and the green wire on the lows is the secondary feed when the highs are on.

Thanks guys!

I'm so pumped.....last night the bumper went on and "suddenly" it looked like a car again.

Why not just set up a relay for the high side? I've heard horror stories about the GT's fog light switch getting so hot it melts the plastic around it. If you're powering 4 lights through the stock switch, I'd be worried.

How powerful are the 4-eye lights in relation to the 2 eye lights?

I've opened up a headlight paddle switch before and they look pretty rugged inside. They should be able to handle some juice.

How beefy is the 4-eye switch. I've had nothing but really bad luck with relays so I prefer not to use them.

check it out, i have an 86gt that i swapped all harnesses to 90-93 except for the headlights harness. Think about it in a simple way...you have a high beam and a low beam. power to each ground to each now with the aero nose front, it has only one bulb but 2 dif wires for high or low. get out your wiring schematics and just trace the wires. find out which wire has power for high and low and just match the colors and splice in. i think there is an 8 pin connector you might have to move some wires around but big deal

good luck

Just splice the 4 eye plugs on to the newer harness. Thats what I did, when I completey re-wired my 86 with 89 harnesses. At the time I couldn't find the plugs here, and Mike86Stang found them in aprts stor and sent them to me. Now I see them in the Advance Auto here

The low beam plug will have 3 wires going to it and the high beam plug will have 2 .

Need a wire diagram to figure what high & low beam wire colors are. I can't remember off hand since it was about 3 years ago when I did it. I did this while building the car..

But I can look at mine and if I don't have them taped up too bad I can send you pics, if needed...
