How will my SD stang react to a few mods?

Hey fellas, new here, just bought a 88 5.0 LX 'vert. It's completely stock and I have a few concerns. Basically, I want to do a few simple things to it and am wondering how it will respond being as it doesn't have a MAF.

I'd like to replace the cats with a x-pipe(probably a bassani) and throw on a set of SLP loudmouths. Also want to put in a cold air intake. That's it, don't want to butcher it. Not doing an intake, cams, headers, crank, etc. Nada. Just want it to breath better.

What I'd like to know is if these small mods would throw anything off. I'm concerned that the stock cats and filter choke things up so much, such a high flowing exhaust would cause some issues.

It's in immaculate shape, mechanically and cosmetically. I'd like to keep it that way. :)

I had a cold air kit, ac eliminator, under-drive pulleys, 2 1/2 inch off-road h-pipe and a mild crower cam running speed density and it ran pretty well except for a little bit of a hunting idle because of the cam and lack of vacuum...with those though youll be happy :)

Yeah, thanks for the responses. I figured as much, just wanted to check. And about the CAI, I was going to just drop the K&N in. The only full cold airs I can find for 88s are those damn BBK things. Blue rubber and chrome...hideous.

Basically just want the thing to breath better.

Also, with the h-pipe/x-pipe, it's not going to throw the 02 sensors off is it?

you'll be fine. I put GT40P heads, Explorer intake & 65mm TB, 1 5/8 shorties and a 2.5" catback system on my bone stock SD 88 vert and made 277 to the wheels on SD. Even now I have very minor issues with the Crower cam and Holley intake. Vacuum is down a little, so keeping cats on is required if you want to kill the small mount of extra fuel in the exhaust at idle. Surges a small amount when cold but stops once warmed up. Still very streetable.
