HP on a budget

1.Clean your mass air meter
2.New plugs and cap/roter
3.Put your timing at 14
4.Make a home made CIA
5.Buy some U/D pullies
6.Put in gears.

That will put you at the $500 mark. But you will proly need new tires soon after.

This is good advice. Optimize the basics, and get some gears installed professionally. I bet you'll be like this guy after it's done ->

Normally I'd say something like this also....however in light that you are taking the heads off, you should take advantage of that and put a cam in. Look around for a good drivability cam that'll work w/our computers (does such an animal exist?), I'm thinking maybe an E-cam. Somebody chime in here. I got a B-cam and it's cool, but the last time I saw a decent idle was when my Speedbrain was working, ( :nonono: miss those days).

Ok,you said brother-n-law is porting heads (-$100), and the T-moss ported intake (-$125), you don't need to change TB or STB, leaves $275, ok $250 w/new gaskets. I'm not sure if you're going to find some used long tubes for our cars for $250, but maybe. Haven't shopped for them for a while. If you can get'em, great, if not, I'd go for undrives, or save it and add to it to do the gears (very important to do). you've got to move all that weight.

Do the free stuff, and shave weight if you have the time...good luck :nice:

yeah, i'm interested in a mild cam. i really don't know squat about that, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. my goal is maybe a mid-13 second daily driver.

could someone explain the T-moss ported intake? is Tmoss a guy on here that ports stock intakes for $100? thanks.

I see by your post count you have not been here long so ..........................

Tom is all over this site. A search will yield you many threads.

He is a nice guy who is a big help to many on this site and IMHO, he knows a great deal about proting intakes. From some of the pics I've seen, his handy work looks really nice.

Your 94-95 EEC can be finicky when it comes to cams. Steeda #18 & #19 cams seem to work well but the #19 doesn't make good power till over ~3,000 rpm according to several posts I've seen. I know the Crower 15510 and 15511 cams will work and make good power, but they cost ~$250 new, so look for a used one.

well i think i've decided to ditch the $500 budget and up it to about $1000. my bro-in-law added up the numbers today, and looks like i'm going w/ ported e7's, ported lower, and a single turbo at about 5-10 lbs or boost. the total came out to around $900 and includes new injectors, fuel pressure reg, fuel pump, and all that other good stuff. this is about the 4th turbo system he's built so i'm pretty damned confident it'll work.

thanks to all who shared their input and suggestions, and i will be contacting you soon, Tmoss, about porting the lower. later :nice:

turbo system for $400 :jaw: does your cousin want to help out another poor college kid on a budget too?

it's actually a little under $1000. it would be even cheaper if one of the 3 turbos he had was a good match for the 302. he's not my cousin, he's my gf's sister's husband, meaning her brother-in-law, but i just call him that since it's easier/probably marry my gf. i wish i could tell you yes, man, but the reason he's helping me out is 'cause we're practically family and we're really good friends. aside from that, you're way up in the carolinas. i'll tell you what, bring your car down with a couple hot girls and a couple bottles of liquor, then we'll talk :D .
