Guys,

(subject car is 2004 GT) I'm at wits end here. I bought an hpipe and its leaking on the drivers side connection. The studs in the header are preventing me from tightening the connection more to seal it up. If the studs would let me tighten it a little more, but there is a pretty big leak and its very very audible, and i can feel the exhuast shooting out all around the connection.

I tried taking the pipe off and putting some gasket maker on there but that was a stupid plan and it all blew out after about 10 mins of driving. THe pass side is nice and sealed due to a new factory gasket.

The studs in the header apparantly only let the hpipe be tightened so far ...

any ideas??

Hmm i have never had this problem. Are you bolting the H-pipe to your stock headers or aftermarket? I think the aftermarket headers are more accepting or other aftermarket mods.... Other than that i am clueless here :(

hey... .how did would you dignose the sound you hear from the exhaust leak?? i've been having a problem with what sounds to be a ticking noise coming from the driver side of my engine. However, this noise can only be heard when the motor is under load... can't be heard at idle, can't be heard at revs in neutral either... ONLY when in gear and on the gas. Does this sound like an exhaust leak to you??? thanks!

stock headers, and i've never had this problem either, maybe the flared part is bent out of shape, its a used h-pipe afterall. The first time i had it on the car it was leaking on teh pass side due to a fubar'd gasket i reused... but the drivers side seemed ok Now when i put it back on its leaking like crazy on the pass side.

I'm about to throw the stocker back on :)

yea prochambers you have to cut off the spacers to get it to not leak ... or get the napa stud kit apparantly, this is what i need!! to remove those gay spacers .... i have some searchin to do, anyone have any more ideas more info plz post up ... i'll post what i find to this post to help future searchers.

yeah, my friends got an 04 Mach I thats leaking like crazy between the stock manifold and his mid pipe. we've put countless new gaskets on it and tried tightening it and we're stumped. but this napa stud kit...how much is it and has it cured all your probs?

It will work b/c its eliminates the spacers on teh studs so youc an tighten them properly. I highly reccomend it.

Napa Stud PN: #600-1819

Oh and its like 10 bux.

i just got a UPR O/R X for my 96 should i get these studs too so i don't have the problem. or is this just for the newer cars?

If your H pipe came with a little piece of tube with a flange on it (my mac did,) you have to put it in the drivers side where it bolts to the manifold.. if you didn't install this you'll have a gap and a leak.. just a thought if you have that piece.
