I just purchased a HV/HP oil pump for my re build but had a quick question. My buddy told me it will probaly blow out my freeze plugs if I dont tap them. Now this is a quick rebuild job and I dont really have the time to tap the freeze plugs, would I be better with a stock oil pump?

Thanks

i assume you are talking about the 3 oil gally plugs behind the timing cover!
i doubt you would have to tap the plugs...
what i did was just install new plugs and stake them with a chizzle
(if you dont know you hit the block beside the plug[in 3 or 4 different places around the plug] after it is installed.
it kinda bends the block so that the plug wont fall out.

I had a 306 with over 100psi of oil pressure at 6000rpm and it did not blow my plugs out.

very good advice on staking them. thats what I did with mine. My oil pump regularly sees 70 psi and I have had no issues at all.
