ok.... i got a 91 351w block non roller block.

i got factory hyd roller lifters and hold down brackets from 94 351w roller block.

my question is..if i use the above stuff on my 91 351w block. i will need a special made cam for the 91 w block? ..

i think the base circles different ..right ? i can used the stock lenght push rods right ?

the retro kits have different lengh p/rods i think so you can run the like the b303 cams in non roller blocks? this is not what i had in mind.

p/s my friend sold my is cam set up ..but i sold it ..i know the the lifters where the same. not sure about p/raod but i think they where the same lenght also..the base circle on that cam was really small..

so to use , the stuff above i just need a cam for a non roller block right ? that way i can use my factory r/lifters and p/rods correct?

sorry if that sound confusion..its hard to explain..

If you convert the non-roller block to a roller type (using the correct link-bar lifters), you can use a roller cam in the non-roller block. Pushrod length is determined by more than just the lift on the cam. Different deck heights (if a block has been milled), if your heads have been milled, the type of heads you're using, and what type of valvetrain you're planning on using all come into play when figuring pushrod length. For example, I would have been unable to use stock length pushrods with my combo, even though the block and heads haven't been milled because Trick Flow's TW heads use a longer pushrod. If you're planning on using stud mounted rockers, you'll also require hardened pushrods to use with guideplates. Spend the $12 and buy an adjustable pushrod so you can measure the correct length instead of just throwing parts at it and hoping they'll work as planned.

yes i got no link bar...i had a 362w in my 83 f 100 it threw a..well 3 rods,, so iam building a 408 with 9.5to1 ,, cam is undecied... for now .

i got edel rpms im going to reuse..there not hurt..

i might just go solid roller again.. low lash like i had b4 it got taken out by the rods

the 351w ..or 362 .060 ove was flat tops i had 10.7 to 1
the 408 will had 9.5 to1 '

if i get a low lash roller again to motors spec's i wont have to change v/springs too. mine set up for 190 seat right now .. i might just throw out the hdy rolller now..

solid rollers make more tq . right .. well thats what i heard

ps this is only a hauling truck used for towing etc. not a racer.. tq down low is what im looking 4. wont spin higher then 5500 ...i think im going to use my samt intake rpm ..over the perf i got too.

my old solid roller cam i didnt have to adjust that often..i had rocker griddle also. for easy adjustment

your putting a 408 in a hauling truck? Geez i wish i had your money. Well if going solid roller costs less money because your valve springs are already set up for it then go with them. The roller lifters are not really needed specially for what you are doing with the engine. Yes there nice but basically they allow you to run more agressive cams but by the sounds of it you aren't really going to need to do that. stick with the parts you have already and save yourself a bunch of money.

i live herr in br la. so cam motion is 5 miles from me .. i want a stock type idle though

get this

my 362w 10.7 to1 ,
solid roller spec's > 242/252 at .050lift was .601/.585
edel rpm heads
rmp intake 750 v sec carb
FMX trans with 3.27 posi.....this set up got 12mpg all high way that sucks so I.

changed card to a 600 vac sec. changed the stall out to stock converter,it still got 12 mph?

so whan my 362 blew up ..i built stock mild motor ok spec's below

351w .040 over
stock 90 gt heads with exhast hump removed
reg flat hyd cam 204/214 at 050 and .460/.474 lift
same 600 carb
same stock conveter
with different intake performer this time ..i got 250 miles on this motor now ok...
and truck stll gets 12 mpg? so..

i thought a 408 dished motor with 9.5 to 1 with my edel rpm heads with a mild roller grind would prob. get me the same mileage whan haven more tq..

anyone need a 351w 040 with 250 miles on it ,,i know my truck is heavy but it should get more then 12mpg on the highway? its a 83 f100 came with v6..its a stepside. its still has working a/c ,,,if i do this combo and it doesnt get anybetter mileage ..i might get an AOD trans....did they make different lenght. AOD trans btw? someone gave me an AOD trans its got a bad plant, gear set. i dont know what it was out of ,,? but i checked it with one from a 89 crown vic ,,the vic was aout 1in shorter? that would go right in my truck w/out shorten the driveshaft. the one i got now it longer and a dont have the extra 1 in on my drive shaft.
