I just installed it in my 02 auto-GT, and I know it made a difference. I cant compare the shifting to the jerry-mod (never had it), but it does shift faster and firmer. It adjusted my rev limter to 6250 as well so I can put in those 4:10s this wkend!!!!!!!!!!! The hypertune is programmed for 93 oct gas, but we only have 92 in HI, dont know if I should put it back to stock tuning or not. noticed a little pinging at WOT but doesnt sound bad. Anyway, happy with it in general. Any other happy people out ther with the hypertech?

I'm happy but i bought it espacially for the gear change. I selected firmer shift, lowered shifts point at around 5500 and power tune. Around here i have acces to 92 octane and it never cause any detonation. I can see a little difference in the way the car shift at WOT and not much of a difference with the power tune. Wouldnt pay 400$ for that so got it used on EBay for real cheap. I'm about done with my mods so no need for a custom chip in my case. Just missing a mid-pipe.

Well, Im pretty satisfied but would like the shifts a bit firmer. I drove a friends 02 auto gt with a trans go shift kit, set at medium firmness, and it chirped 1-2 and 2-3 shifts. mine only chirps 1-2 shifts. I added 500 rpms to the 1-2, 2-3 and 3-4 shift points though so it holds the gears a bit longer. Dont know if thats good or bad but feels quicker.

Did you have to get the programmer flashed since it was used....the guys at hypertech told me that as long as the car it was used on first was set to stock before it was sold, it could be used on another car. I f you did have it flashed, how did you go about it ..thanks

Nah, I bought it new. What do u think I should set my shift point rpms at. I raised the rev to 6250 since ill be adding 4:10's this wkend. According to hypertech u have to raise the shift rpms according to the rev limiter. Seems to shift alot quicker though and holds the gears about 5-8 mph longer.

I would say 6000-6100 if it is an auto.....you don't want it so high that your out of the powerband, but I am just suggesting since all of my stangs have been manual.

I'm pleased with it

The programmer allows you to adjust a lot that you would otherwise not be able to with an automatic......About the gas, the Hypertech III I got said it could be used with 87 octane without problems and that is all I use. Haven't noticed any problems so far. I have mine set 200 RPM's higher for each shift and the limiter raised so I can fill out the powerband. I wouldn't recommend the electronically controlled shift firmness because that is something that should be mechanically controlled with stiffer springs and fluid movement. I bought a stage 2 shift kit even before getting the programmer and it would chirp 'em everytime I got on it just a little and is really nice now that I have the Hypertech installed. The kit was only like $60-80 and wasn't too bad to install. It's also really good for transmission life because it forces you to make a complete fluid change and provides you with stiffer springs. If anyone knows more about the fuel question though, please let me know.
