I almost cried!!!!!

I'm driving on PCH this morning for my coffee, I see an old school 64-65 stang pulling onto the highway; i'm driving about 45 mph and this guy stomps on it as I pass, he catches up to me pretty fast, I'm looking at his car because it is in beautiful condition. I mean this car is awesome down to the stock wheels, he passes and gets in front of me by now we are still only going 50 or so I continue to look at his car and also noticed it was a california GT (tailpipes comming out of the holes in the rear) And I truely love that year and car. Well here comes the bad part: stop light I get next to him at the stop and ask if its all original, the kid says yes (unfortunately he was only like 16 - 17 ish) I say awesome car I love that year he says thanks and inquires about mine. Anyway long story short he has it in his mind i'm gonna race him (I truely dont know why) he revs in NEUTRAL and I shake my head no. (sorry fellas I never under any circumstance street race) this kid shoves it into drive takes off like a bat outta hell and stays on it, he gets about 5 or 6 car lengths away and all I see is a hugh cloud of bluish smoke! I pull over with him to help and low and beholod there is a hole in the side of his block about the size of a walnut I wanted to cry but instead gave this kid a piece of my mind. morale of the story dont be stupid with what you have just remember around the corner it could be gone, or in this case blown.

That sucks that some younger people don't really appreciate a classic car. I'm pretty sure his old man gave him a piece of his mind and belt when he got home. You should have asked him if he needed a change of underwear after that.

Not all kids at least my first car when I was 16 in high school was a 72' Duster with a 340 c.i.d with the 727 torque flight transmission. What an animal that thing was to drive but I was very responsible with it.

If you don't respect the car, the car will not respect you! What a DUMA$$!!! LOL

I had a similar situation in my old 95gt (5spd, headers, H-pipe, pullies, borla, intake, suspension work). I pulled up next to a guy in a 67-69 camero which was painted purple. It said "396 ss" on the side, but it sounded more like a 350 with exhaust, though I couldn't tell for sure. Now I am not one for street racing everything I come in contact with, but this guy was giving me dirty looks, and I was curious as to what this guy was running under that hood. You see f-body's all over, but rarley run into 1st gen cameros, let alone a possible 396 ss. The light turned green, as we both tip toed around the corner into a straight away. We both opened it up, and before I was out of 1st gear (which took awile with my 3:07's) His engine made a LOUD pop pop bang sound. He pulled off and turned down a side street. In my rear view mirror, I saw TONS of smoke coming out of his tailpipes.

Had the same thing happen but it was on the highway. I was in my 91 lx5.0 with all the bolt ons and here is the best part. This kid and his girlfriend were in a stock Honda CRX. He kept getting next to me for a few miles and of course wanted to race. One of the times he got next to me I stomped it and took off. I looked in my rear view mirror in time to see a puff of smoke come out from all the cracks of his hood. And then he slowed to a stop on the shoulder of the road. I wanted to stop but was sure his girlfriend was quite pissed and I did not want any part of that.

I'm 16, with a Mustang GT, and i'm very responsible. (Thats why my dad let me have it) I have a job, i bought the car myself, and i'm gonna treat it like it should be

i was sixteen when i got mine too and nothin has ever happened it just depends on if you pay for it or really really responsible

Thats why I had a 95 Olds acheiva while I had my mustang. I drive the **** outta that peico and just cruise in my mustang.... Unless im on that open country road.

And treating classic cars like that makes my heart sink into my stomach.....

I saw a wrecked camaro last month. It was a 67-69 conv. Looked like it had just been restored. It also looks like it hit a pole or tree going 90+ mph. The front was smashed back to the windshiled, conv ripped back and drivers door about touching passanger door.
