i am stuck please help!!

im currently doing my clutch job and get down the rear main seal and it looks as if the rear main seal is leaking and the back of the oil pan is leaking too. wut do i do? i got the brand new rear main seal but wut do wit the oil pan. i dont think their is a way to pull the oil pan becuz of the front sump is there? i dont kno wut to do

Are you sure it's not oil from the rear main seal that leaked to the oil pan gasket?

im pretty sure cuz the gasket or seal back there is really brittle must be original

i dont even want to mess wit the oil pan but my dads tellin me u have to lower it to put that seal in and i keep tellin him u dont have to rite?

You don't need to touch the oil pan to replace the rear main seal. He's probably recalling the older SBF models that used a two piece seal, versus the late model one piece. As for the oil pan gasket leaking, are the bolts tight? Our cars were thirteen model years ago, so after all that time and vibration, things do loosen up.

I had to pull the motor up about 4 inches to get the pan down and replace the gasket. I didn't have to unhook everything and I already had the transmission out. It was a PITA though.

ok but if wanted to avoid that can i loosen some bolts stick some silicone in there and tighten it back or is that not good to do.

It may be hit or miss if it holds long-term. If you get it clean enough, I really don't see any reason that some RTV couldn't get you by.
