Hey guys new to this site and I have a 84 gt350 that I am working on and my problem at this point is I need a wirring harness for the car from the fire wall foward I cant seem to find a aftermarket replacemt harness. I know that the car has no factory splice from the interior to engine bay but I will just cut and sodder in the new. By the way it is a convertialble car its manual and is non efi from the factory it is carberated and will stay carberated and has a/c. I am also elemating all the emissions crap but when I get the new harness I can just elimate the stuff I dont need from there. All the wiring in the engine bay has been exposed to heat and age, it is mostly cracked and the inslation is gone. I would probally just make my one harness but because of all the head lights and fog light conectors it would be hard not to mention the guy before me who didconnected the harness did me the favor and did not lable anything. So any help would be appericated in the quest for a new harness would be great. I know someone else has to have this problem.

I think there are two harnesses for the carbed cars. One is the engine harness that handles the ignition, alt, and gages. I believe the other is for the lights and such.

The hatch glass heater has its own big yellow wire.\

I swapped a 1980 Capri engine harness from a 255 two barrel car into my 1982 car that came with a straight six. Worked fine.

Caution, retain the 84 harness that goes to the dash gages, it may be wired different from the donor that you get. I used the 80 engine bay harness, and connected it to the 82 dash harness. Then I put the 80 gage cluster in it. Fried the tach and some other stuff. Put the 82 cluster back in and it was fine.

Actually, I verified the pinout of the 82 harness and both the 80 and 82 cluster circuits after the smoke cleared, and they were different.

You should be able to use any 79 t0 85 carbed v8 harness, or even a Fairmont or Tbird.

Same problem here my 83' needs a harness too. The part that gose from the duraspark box to the dis plug in is falling apart due to age and underhood heat NOBODY seems to make them aftermarket wise. If i was you i would just dump the whole carppy durajunk setup and, go with a MSD dis that way you could due away with the factory harness. This is what i plan to do once i have the funds saved up.

Well with my car from what I can tell it looks to be one main harness with crap coming off every where.I will be running a msd ingnition but I what to get a nother harness to replace the old from the fire wall foward and cut off all the stuff I dont need. I probally could just make my own harness but I am not sure of all the stuff under the dash like all the idiot lights and the cluster and the a/c and it would become a real head ace if I cut the wrong wire. I just spent the past 30 minuts calling the ford dealerships around me looking for one but it is "obsleet" in there terms my argument what the hell the fox was one of the most mass produced mustangs ever.
