Hey guys, i just passed smog and when i bought my edelbrock performer it didnt come with the pcv baffle underneath the intake so when i started my car up all i seen was blue smoke and oil in the intake..

So i capped of the PCV and ran the car but the oil kept bursting out..Ok so i put a breather on the oil filler.. Its fine but then here comes the weird deal...

The tube thats supposed to go from the upper intake to the PCV on the lower is disconnected.. Everytime i capp that intake tube off the car dies and doesnt start... Where can i run this line to? I wanna cap it off period.. Or is there any lines on the car i can TEE it off?

Thanks

you don't cap off the pcv system unless you want to start putting new piston rings and oil gaskets in and changing oil prematurely. you need proper crankcase ventilation, end of story.

No shops have them... I just called AUtozone, Kragens and Pep Boys.. They dont know wtf it is.. I even called Dealership and they said it only comes with stock factory or when you buy aftermarket intakes.....

Keep running it with out pcv and kiss your rear main and front seals good bye. You can get the filter piece from ford.. you need the mesh screen and the rubber gromet. Good luck.

Agreed, it's on the rack with all the fuel filters, PCV valves, etc... The rubber grommet is there, along with a little disk with a wire mesh in it... I got the PCV filter (the wire mesh thing) from my local Ford dealer, but I've seen them at Advance Auto Parts and Autozone.

Oh hell LOL.. I left that off my performer intake years ago and talk about blowing smoke out my exhuast... your gonna have to remove the lower intake to install it. Id call up the ppl you got the intake from and tell them to provide you with one. Its usually not 2 bolts its these two pins that hammer into the intake. Get that piece put on for sure!

I got the intake used from a guy who built race motors, he told me to leave it capped and run breathers or drill a hole on the back of your passenger valve cover, he also said to goto a hardware store and get a grommet that will sit inside the hole and insert a thick, very thick wire mesh in that hole and run the PCV vacum line through it.. I will be fine as long as that hole breaths WITHOUT OIL...

What do you guys think?

The breather is a good idea and you can get the ones that screw right in where the oil fill spout is. The stock wire mesh piece that goes in that hole is pretty thick to begin with and I still suck oil past it even with the metal piece in place.. aftermarket intakes are real bad about that. If it were me I would either fab me a piece to put in or order the correct block off plate.

Yeah i just tested my car with the breathers and it is running fine but that vaccum line is WHAT I THINK IS HOLDING MY POWER BACK... Like everytime i go over 4000rpms my whole car shakes and loses power.. Feels like a MAF problem but its not since i just got it... I have a feeling that vaccuum line thats just sitting there is causing this.. Im not sure..

Thanks

You have a line hanging loose thats pulling vacume?? block it off with something for sure it will be sucking in extra air its not accounting for creating a lean condition.
