Just thought I'd let you all know that I'll be sticking around now. Tonight I bought a '67 S code coupe. It has zero rust and I just need to do a few minor details to the body, then the build up begins.... So many ideas... I can't wait!

I sure will have a big learning curve up ahead. I have neverdone a restore, never put together a motor....wow...i have a lot to learn!

What would you guys recommend me getting as far as literature goes? I need to learn where most everything goes and I'd rather not use trial and error...

Congrats on the buy 95CobraStang...No rust is a huge deal. First thing I recommend you do is look over the entire car and determine what you will be needing. Secondly, what are you planning on doing? 100% restoration or are you going the restomod route?

Well I'm planning on the Restomod route. However, since I am new to the classics, I want to make sure that I'm not doing something stupid. The guy I bought the car from had about 30 sitting in his yard, some of which were extremely rare, but the previous owners cut up and turned into strip cars.

I really have two thoughts... and they are pretty opposite.
1. Go Restomod and have the car look like a classic, but have a lot of modern parts. I'm talking S/C'd efi 5.0. with AOD and B&M megashifter. Then stereo with rear deck speakers and kick panel speakers... Then, sound proof the hell outta this baby!! I could keep going.... all while having it look classic-like.

2. Try to do 100% restore...I'm just not as well-read on this topic.

I know it is my car and my choice in the end... however, i do enjoy opinions

When i bought my 68 coupe i had originally decided to go all original...then i started looking at catalogs and saw all the cool things in that were available for classic stangs, like power windows/locks, suspension upgrades, sound systems, etc...so then i decided to go restomod. I have the same goals as you do, as many modern amenities as possible while staying stock in appearance. I decided to stay with my carb'd 289...so easy to work on. and that same mentality has transfered to my 67 coupe which is almost road ready. Again, good luck.

oh and brakes....i hate my all manual drum brakes...may they burn in hell after i replace them with a disc brake setup.

Oh, don't forget the IRS from a Cobra R, Who is it that has the brackets for that upgrade? Go with a resto-mod, they are much fun.

The only reason that I went with a resto-mod in mind was because the 65 that I picked up was in no way stock, so my choice was kind of easy.

Disc brakes are definitely on the list. How did you go about that? I've seen new kits as well as using brakes off old ford cars. How hard/much did it run you? New kits look to be way too expensive.
