Took the Mustang to this car show today. On the way home I ran through the gears and while going from 2nd to 3rd I heard a noise from the rear of the car. Now when I hit a bump in the road, the rear end feels like its floating or shifting over. Kinda hard to explain. I did a quick look over the under of the car and didnt see anything broken.

The car has NT555R tires in the rear. MM LCAs, FRPP B springs and thats it for the rear. Stock 100k mile shocks and quad shocks.

What could it be? I was thinking either the UCAs or the bushings in the UCAs.

Possiblely you have ripped out your torque-boxes, you know how to check those.

Does the car feel weird when turn, like the rear end is really looser then usual?

I do not know how to check the torque boxes. Im taking the car to my step dads shop Saturday and putting it on the lift. What should I look for?

the car doesnt feel any different while turning. Just going over bumps in the road the rear end will jump over. Kinda feels like there is no sway bar installed.

Its possible you could ripped something out, slightly. Does not take much to make the car feel different the the suspension geometry is slightly off. Mustang underbodies are really soft.

Just get under there and take a look. Use a big prybar to try to find issues and visually inspect.

i remember kilgore from years ago. so fwiw it turned out being a blown quad shock, we ordered some cheap ones off amazon for now.

So heres what was causing the problem. Thats the LCA insert on the chassis side. I have the MM ones too.. I ordered new bushings from them yesterday. Ill install them and see how long they can take the abuse.

So that was a MM part? How long did that thing last? Kinda curious as it didn't seem to live that long..

Yep their heavy duty LCAs. They had been installed since 2009 or 2010. I think their undoing was extra power from the blower and drag radials. I had no problems while I was NA.

They sell an extreme duty arm that has spherical bushings on both ends. I may go with those eventually.

This guy experienced the same problem I was having; rear end swaying around. The car felt like my step dads Grand Marquis at freeway speeds.

I still have the oe struts installed which are being replaced when I do the inserts too along with the Eibach sway bar kit. SFCs are coming soon.

Had the same problem. You'll be surprised at what a procharger, 4:10's, a heavy clutch and hard shifting will do to our cars. I was told to grease the upper and lower bushings at oil change intervals. When I was running MT DR's I hit 2nd hard and heard a loud pop come from my driver door. The belt moulding broke loose as the door skin pulled appart at the jamb seam. Didn't see that one coming, anyone else have this happen?

Finished up installing the new bushings and new KYB shocks and struts and what a difference it made! The car feels young again.

The passenger bushing had a good chunk missing and all three pieces were torn so I believe the pin inside the bushing moved around in it causing the swaying feel. The drivers side was also torn all the way through.

I have such a loud clunking sound in my rear end currently its not even funny. I semi want to upgrade to a IRS setup so I am gonna justify getting one of those soon because of it
