I drove a Turbo'd Nissan 240sx

Here's a pic of my brothers 240sx engine before we finished (work in progress) .. I don't have a pic of the car because it's being painted as we speak. His car would change your mind .... Trust me, it would spank a large majority of mustangs!

Mine included ... :(

We fabbed all the piping, exhaust, etc., and he designed the plentum with autocad and then had it machined. In fact, the turbo he has on it now is bigger than that one.

Man that looks nice! tell him "good job" for me! :nice:

You know, "fast" is all about perspective. I dont look down on anyone elses car, if they like it....thats ALL that matters.
Im sure that nissan was most definatly quicker than it was before the turbo...so just becasue its not as fast as a stock GT, doesnt make it a waste of time IMO
Its like the supra guys saying "man I rode in a turbo GT mustang, and it was only about as fast as a BPU+++ supra...why do they waste their time?" (ofcourse I get alot of respect from the supra croud here in austin...but that was just an example).
To each their own as they say :flag:

You see, most 240SX i've seen are just purebred ricers. Big wheels, and muffler. thats it. And they are slower then my Geo.
I've also seen few turbo'ed KA24DE, and they can push to make some respectable power. But then they are truck based engine with less then optimum highend airflow(Although, its much better then.. say our 3 valve head...), where turbo would shine. Some can kick our butt, and some would put up a good race.

Then I've seen 240SX with SR20DET that are stock, and some are massaged to push some very respectable power, even with lesser SR18DET. Those would almost always whop our car once their turbo starts to spin at max RPM, unless your forcefed.

I would LOVE to have 95~96 240SX SE with latest SR20DET off of late model S15(One thats pushing 250hp with improved Inconel impeller wheeled T28 with a dual ball-bearing center cartridge, commonly known as black top, due to black colored valve cover, and 6speed trans), and intake off of Pulser GTi-R(developed as a World Rally Championship homologation. It had very tric Quad throttle body intake).
Those hybrid SR25DET with quad intake - with proper tune - can produce upword of 400hp/350ft-lb with OEM like reliability.

a stock GT would whoop that thing. I dunno why these guys waste their money

stock for stock most turbo 4's are slower than a GT. however unlike GT's, factory turbo cars usually respond very well to minor mods, and such mods are super cheap.

my 91 GSX was pretty eh with its ~195hp, but with 1500$ (DSMLink, injectors, fuel pump+regulator) it would probably take a procharged GT with a great driver to run it down at the track. and thats still on the stock turbo, imagine what i could do with another 1500$ into a better turbo. so i just spend 3k$ +900$ for the cost of the car and were still less money invested in my entire 450hp+ setup than cost of a single SC kit for a GT, that will maybe net 350-360hp.

i think the guy with the 240 is playing it safe right now, or just doesnt have the support in place to run the turbo. when he does, say bye bye kid. hell rape you, going sideways, flipping you off saying "how you like them apples!"

Appreciate it. His car is fast as ****. His old setup (different pistons, cam, etc.) had 406 rwhp 385 ft.lbs tq. With his current setup, he will be able to run like 25-29 lbs of boost and it's a much bigger turbo. The car is basically set up to be a drag car. He had a guy fabricate a roll cage (we had to weld it in) but it's sick. I'll see if he has a video, I know he does with the old setup.
