k fought for about an hour.. it is not moving... i need an industrial strength magnet, who sells one?

If that doesn't work i have to pull out the oil system... which is pulling the whole engine out again...

AND i hooked up the battery and fried a **** ton of wires and i lost head lights and dash lights... so i get to trace that out.

So your socket is stuck on the shaft? Did you try reversing it a bit to loosen it up, then fishing it out with a magnet? Ive never been in your shoes, so Im just trying to picture it from seeing it in other pics... Do you have one of those pen style telescoping magnets that can reach down in there?

new idea...

drill the back end of the socket out... once it breaks, the top will just slide down and stay on the shaft.. i know its not good but... i dont want to pull and engine that took me 5 days to get back in. or im thinking an e-Z out on the back and hope it pulls.

what about all the metal shaving's that will come from drilling the socket?
if they get in your engine,it'll just destroy all your hard work.
best to not cut corner's and do it the right way.
i know it's a lot of work, but i'd rather disassemble what i need to and remove the socket, then replace a f****d up engine due to metal shaving floating around in there.

just a thought, how about a little JB Weld on the end of your extension, stick it on the socket, let it dry, then pull.

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

Same thought came to my mind immediately. Spray some solvent like BrakeKleen on the socket first so that the JB weld has a clean surface to adhere too.

Just make sure to change your oil after spraying brake clean down there!!! That socket must really be on there man, I also think that you should bite down and take the kick in the balls to disassemble things to get it off the right way. You dont want metal shavings in your engine, even if you change the oil and think you have it all out...

sockets are hardened anyway, and would be almost impossible to drill in that situation... im sure the socket would end up spinning with it too.

+1 on jb weld/brakleen.

Doesn't the oil shaft come out from the top too. If it doesn't I would lift that motor and pull the pan. I would not drill in there. Good luck with it.

If you are not careful

The retaining clip will slip down the shaft

then ... the shaft could fall to the bottom of the pan

Good Luck with the fix

Sorry ... I got no ideas other than pull it apart

I used crazy glue on the extesion when it happened to me once, put it on the tip, let it sit for 2 hours and then out came the socket.. you need to be an oil primer or do what I did, weld on the socket to the extension

Glad to hear you got it taken care of, and did it without potentially hurting the engine!
