Hey folks,
I know my heater core is due for replacement, but I noticed a wierd antifreeze leak. I was looking for my O2 sensors (found them by the way), and on the passengers side exhaust pipe I found some coolant on it, and a small puddle in my garage on the floor, maybe 2 inches in diameter. I immediately checked the inside of the car, and no pool of death (my towels and plastic are ready just in case).
But.. Inside the engine compartment on the firewall, on the passenger side, I noticed a hole some several inches below the heater hoses. It looks like this hole is supposed to be there (though I never noticed it before, and really never looked) but there is some coolant leaking from it. Looks like it is dripping down on the exhaust pipe and then on the floor... does this sound normal?
Thanks!
Brett

A hole below the heater hoses? Where is it, on the hose itself, the metal tube the heater hose attaches to, or the block?
the hole is on the firewall right? i dont know if that is normal...but when my heater core went it didnt leak inside the car either. i actually never found the leak but could smell antifreeze and was losing coolant. it was a mystery
Thats the moisture drain tube for the heater case. If it's belching coolant then your heater core is seeping coolant into the heater case and it's coming out there
yes, the hole is on the firewall; could this be fouling by pass side 02 sensor?
Maybe this is wishful thinking, but it seems to me that it might be possible that this coolant drip running down the exhaust pipe could very well be fouling the pass side Oxygen sensor. Wishful thinking?

that's a far stretch...the o2 sensor is threaded in and nothing should be able to get to the actual sensor part inside the pipe.bcmbcmbcm said:Maybe this is wishful thinking, but it seems to me that it might be possible that this coolant drip running down the exhaust pipe could very well be fouling the pass side Oxygen sensor. Nice try though
Probably coming from the a/c moisture tub. That is what mine did when the heater core went south.
