Well, I have all my parts needed to do my rebuild and H/C/I install. My rebuild kit arrived yesterday, I ordered 24# injectors, C&L 76mm MAF, Professional Products race balancer, and O2 sensor extension wires 2 days ago. I bought a set of slightly used ARP main bolts from a friend of mine yesterday and I'm gonna get some ARP rod bolts when I get paid. Then i'll be ready to do my rebuild/build-up. Here's what my motor is gonna be when I finish:

302 w/ forged pistons, new rings, bearings, freeze plugs, oil pump, and ARP bolts
AFR 185 heads w/61cc chambers. With the new pistons compression should be in the neighborhood of 9.8:1
F303 cam
Edelbrock Performer intake
70mm TB
C&L 76mm MAF
24# injectors
Mac 1 3/4 longtubes
2 1/2" x-pipe
Flowmaster 2 chamber mufflers
see my sig for the rest of the combo.

Would it be safe for me to expect low 13s out of this combo? I'm a damn good driver, I just haven't been able to get that perfect launch at the track. Launching on the street and launching at the track is 2 totally different animals. A couple of my friends seem to think I should get high 12 out of it but I don't think so. I know my car is heavy. It has full interior power everything and I'm not a light-weight either. I'm about 230ish. Another thing keeping me from 12 is my computer. I won't be able to get a custom chip or a Tweecer until later. BUT, if I do manage to squeeze a 12 out her you guys will be the first to know. :D

1 3/4 long tubes are way too big for your combo, If you run them you will loose a lot of bottom end, i suggest you go with the 1 5/8 long tubes.

I know the 1 3/4 LTs might be a little big for this combo but it was either use them(I got them from a friend for $100 a year ago) or use the stock headers. I plan to stroke my motor to a 331 soon anyway and thats why I went ahead and bought these headers.....thats the same reason why I bought the AFR 185s instead of the 165s. I hope the headers don't hurt me too bad though...if they do I guess I'll have to scrounge up some money to buy some 1 5/8 LTs. We'll see.

Yep, with the help and expertise of a mechanic friend of mine. But I'll be doing most of the stuff because I want to be able to say I built my motor. I've always admired people who build their own stuff.

True true, I want to build my 351 shortblock, but we'll see. I'll need to find a good "how to" book before I try it.
