So today my buddy showed up in his mustang with a Vortech supercharger and tons of other ****.. he pretty much bought it track ready, but anyways...i got the itch for a supercharger...i know there tons of threads about this...and ive been reading alot...but im kinda partial to the centrifugal(Sp?) style, not sure why...i just like it, but am i able to just bolt on a vortech or novi kit on the stock everything, it owuld only be like a 6-8psi kit...i just wanna buy the kit and put it on. i dont wanna mess with the internals and ****....thanks guys...

You would have to get a tune regardless. Upgrading your fuel system would be wise. 6-8 psi and you should be fine on stock internals. I'm running 11 psi aftercooled on my stock rotating assembly

oh yeah, thats another thing i dont fully understand, what exactly does a "tune" consist of, if i buy vortech, they say i have to send my ecm(computer right?) to them for them to "play with". im unsure what exactly a tune means...

Correct me if I am wrong but a tune is the modification of your fuel delivery system and etc.. Basically modifying your onboard computer (ECU) to better suit the modifications on your car. Doing this will not only keep your car from detonating on you, but maximize the potential of it. You need to purchase a chip or the tuner will throw one in there, depending on where you go.

The main point of tune is to adjust your air fuel ratio throughout the RPM range, so that you aren't running too rich and wasting gas/not making enough power, or running too lean and potentially damaging your engine. It also can smooth out rough idle, stalling problems, hesitation problems, shift firmness, shift points, correct speedometer for gear swaps, wheel swaps, MAF changes, injector size changes, the list goes on and on. Dyno tunes cost $$, but definately are worth it if you've got the mods to require it (supercharger, turbo, big cam swap, etc.)

a tune changes the stock fuel and spark tables in your vehicles ECU to be better suited and more safe for a supercharged application. The stock table are way to lean and way too much advance spark to be used with a forced induction application. Basically, the ECU uses various inputs such as mass air flow (intake air), Intake air temp, Engine coolant temp, engine load, throttle position, and may others to determine how much fuel and spark to send to the engine.

May I ask why you're getting rid of it....I was thinking of getting a Novi...did you have problems?

it comes with everything to get your car running fairly well until you can get it on a dyno and have someone tune it. all of the extras cost more if you buy the novi 2000 from paxton and then the parts seperate. mongoose is an awesome deal. when i get $4,200 im going mongoose novi 2000. if ever yuo do decide to go forged internals, you can crank up the boost up to 27lbs, and the s/c its self is rated at 980 hp. imagine that in yur dd...
